Jane Tonks

Jane Tonks is a regional Australian artist living on Wiradjuri Country in Orange, NSW. With a Diploma of Fine Arts, Jane specializes in large, contemporary, expressive landscape paintings and various forms of printmaking, including whimsical etchings, linocuts, collagraphs, and woodblock prints. Her recent creative work is deeply focused on the climate crisis and the devastating 2019/2020 Australian bushfires.

Jane's paintings explore the fragility and vulnerability of the natural environment alongside its remarkable resilience, endurance, and strength. She captures the beauty in the colors and details of charred landscapes and their capacity for renewal, drawing parallels to the human condition. Through her art, Jane seeks to foster a profound sense of being part of the landscape, promoting a deep sense of belonging, spiritual connection, custodianship, and responsibility. She aims to evoke a powerful response by tapping into the energy of interconnection and oneness of all things, encouraging viewers to feel a part of the sacred landscape.
